A nostalgic view of village life from a bygone era. This 1958 production from Finos Films highlights the collision between modernity and tradition in a small Greek village. It is about about the hilarious conflict between the newly arrived village doctor played by Orestes Makris and a savvy midwife, Georgia Vassiliadou. With English sub-titles.

Stavros,
One of my favorites! Lots of laughs and good acting too boot...! To younger Greeks, a movie like this appears made on another planet! Thanks for posting this!

D,
You and my wife have probably seen every Greek movie ever made. Glad you like it. Unfortunately the sub titles don't do the dialogu justice.

I LOVE the old Greek movies - whether comedies or dramas. Thank you so much for posting this. Amalia Vassiliadou is my fav. Unfortunately I am unable to find out anything about her as a person ie. where was she born? where did she live? did she have any children?

My pleasure. Did you mean Georgia Vasiliadou?
